introduction to paper 3

Ever notice how people can be so naiive and ignorant to many situations if put one way but if told in another they quickly realize the velocity of the problem? When the history of the holocaust is mention people fringe at the thought of such cruelty. Yet when people are told that certain dogs must be murdered since they too will not be accepted , then its a whole different circumstance. granted what hitler did was worse, because it was to people and very inhumane but non the less look at it like, he was a murderer. American Pitbull Terriers, and staffordshires are one of the most feared breed of dogs known in many places. When the word pitbull is mention people automatically assume they are energetic steriod filled aggressive dogs that will tear up anything in its path. but why is this a sterotype for just pitbulls, when you hear rottwielers or german shepards wouldnt the same fealing of fear infill you? A poll survey was taken in a very populated area, the poll showing that an astounding 92% believed that pitbulls in general are dangerous. Research and an open mind can prove this to be otherwise a misunderstood problem.

I really like how you dive right in and use sources, and the metaphor quickly grabs the readers attention. However, I would present it a little bit differently so that you don't make it sound like you are comparing humans to dogs. Another thing is that one of the things we will be assessed on is the ability to address both sides of the issue, it is very clear which side you are on. Perhaps if you stated the other side clearly, your paper would be more effective.

A quick example:

When the word pitbull is mentioned people some assume they are energetic steriod filled aggressive dogs that will tear up anything in its path, but others feel love, for they know they are such good dogs. They are viewed as agressive blah blah blah but many owners know it is not true, they are caring, loving, and guarding.

What Im trying to say is that you should just state both sides without defending them, at least not yet (perhaps later in the essay)

Heysell leaves you an excellent comments here. I was also equally as confused by the presentation. Certain words carry a lot weight that you may not realize. Take for example the word "Hitler." When his name comes up, everything is tainted by it. That can be good or bad, depending on the effect your are going for. But, as a member of the audience, I have a hard time correlating Hitler with canines.
