had to post about this because its a very important topic!! miami heat are so far 0-2 to boston celtics in the nba playoffs!! what the heck is giong on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how did we do SO bad in the second game.. almost lost by 30!!??! WHAT?!?! and too bad star Kevin Garnett wasnt even playing!!! we BETTER swweep then 4-2 and make it to the flipping 2nd round. gr. beasly? looking like he should be benched.. and wade.. needs to be reminded that he isnt allowed to leave us lol.. ok . just sharing. =0)

By blogging all of my assignments i learned to be a little more involved, and creative and open with other poeple about my ideas. i always felt like talking over internet, or text methods were alot easier for me to get my point or questions across, because i can be a little shy. It helped me (kind of) keep up with everything i had to turn in and i liked it ALOT better than having to print and bring eveyrhting to class. Alot easier to keep up with seeming that i usually always ahve my computer witt me and my printer is way too slow =0). As far as blogging after the semester is over, it really depends on if i get more people on here that read my stuff, because i think a really important part of wanting to do stuff like this is to get commetns and acknowledgement for everything you write,and if you dont get that its kind of like writing in a diary or talking to yourself. to some people its fun , for me it doesnt do much for me. I really did feel like it was personal space where i knew i could turn in all my assignments and the teacher would be able to comment or suggest other things ON the actual blog instead of in person. I could have posted alot more, but this semester was a little dramatic for me and i dont really like posting my raw emotions.. I could improve my blogger by just really putting more time and effort in trying to put it together , but since i dont have a myspace or anything i really dont know how to do certain things on the internet, im awesome with alot of computer programs but blogging and personal communication things are not important for me to ccare about lol .

blog 4 unit 4? the advocacy ad..

this is my advocacy ad, but the words that i decided to write in the top part of the casket are still a little eh, im not sure if those are the proper words to use for something like this, im trying to think what would look/sound better.. any ideas??!!!

decision time!!

i finally decided that for my paper, im going to do the subtitles like we saw in class, i decided to do this because the topic im doing the paper on seems like it will be alot to grasp for any one and theres alot of differnet things to learn , so the easiest way to do that is to rbeak everything down !! i should be posting by tonight or tomorrow the newest rough draft.

and i changed my idea on the advocacy ad after doing some research, google really helps change your mind on things, instead of doing a slide show..with a million pictures im going to draw 1 picture (hopefully i can draw what i planned) and then ill have a little catch phrase to go along with it.. and itll be the problem and the solution making it alot more effective tht a movie in pictures.

i was thinking like..a slide show?

and itll basically be from the moment you recieve the phone call that someone in your family has passed , showing the grief in their faces and then the next picture would be a calendar that shows how much time from that moment they have to bury the deceased. and then itll be a picture of them meeting with the funeral home people and like shaking their hand and the funeral home worker is smiling and like a little dialogue bubble with money signs .. and then the next clip will be like.. a SUPER nice funeral and then a picture of the bill and expensses. and then im not sure how to end it to get the idea, i guess like a directory of different funeral homes with the different pricing and a pre-need plan with a caption saying "plan ahead" .. something like that.. i dont know .. HELP? lol

not even close to being done, this is just MAYBE the introduction. im struggling with this one alot.. im trying to do everything right.. any suggestions. dont be too critical this wasnt really planned or even double checked for good structure..

No one likes to think about death, but truth of the matter is, its an inevitable event.When a loved one dies, grieving family members and friends often are confronted with dozens of decisions about the funeral ­— all of which must be made quickly and often under great emotional stress. Dying in America is expensive, averaging about $6500 according to the National Funeral Directors Association. Not many people can afford to pay that kind of cost over night, especially when the last thing on your mind is money. Your vunerability opens up a gate way of dollar signs to the funeral homes, because most people feel that their love one deserves the best, and will sign away their lives before realizing that their looking at a very large bill. Funeral homes are businesses, they have to pay salaries and bills as any business does so their goal is to make money. They usually wont say " heres the lower costs services and caskets" because they can probably get you to buy the higher costs ones.. so what can you do to avoid walking away a couple thousand dollars in debt.

im really having a problem writing this paper, i asked a couple people if this is a good topic. but i get mixed answers.. and they ssay its not really argumentative.. i dont know what to do --- i have a overall idea in my head but i dont even know how to start the paper..

this has been the worst year hands down in my LIFE. from one tragedy to the next. im so stressed out. my grades are suffering im going to lose my scholarship if i dont pick my self back up.

this is a picture of my car, it was totaled. because i was leaving class last thursday, and this girl wasnt paying attention and rear ended me sending me flying into the guy in front of me. i no longer have acar. i was in the hospital all night.. !!! sigh. 2010= bad.

REVISED THESIS

The one thing in life people pay the least mind to is death, and what comes along with it; including costs. Funeral homes know that this is a painful vunerable time for the families and they basically fill their pockets on that sentiment. People need to familiarize themselves more with the options available to them when it comes to funerals because in the moment, money is the last thing on their mind..


I changed my audience in this thesis, giving myself more to work with instead of trying to change a business mind frame, it would be easier opening peoples eyes.

I dont udnerstand how people can be so ignorant and cold hearted!! im dealing with so many home issues right now i really dont want to do anything but hide in a corner . at a time of crisis and misfortunes instead of my family coming together some of its just crumbling to pieces and losing sight of the important things in life. i really dont know how much i can scream before im heard. and hilarious thing im the most .. my issues when writing paper 4 were mainly how to word things and not make it completely research and make it sound like a narrative while maintaining credibility and not getting boring. it was alot of stuff to do at once !! in the end i dont think my paper turned out too bad i think that all the good information i found was a little of a burden as well. i wanted to include everything i read and so many of the things dont seem like things that can be paraphrased or put in to my own words! like in class we had alot of example on what we should do when we come across those type of problems and that alot of it is covered in the book for class. another thing was citing the sources i found that was pretty annoying but in the end everything fit ..

Have you ever been hated, discriminated, even protested against? Pit bulls have all over the world people cringe at the site or even the mere thought of a Pit bull or anything that may look like it. I remember one day I was walking into a pet store and a woman comes up to me and pets my dog and says “Oh my goodness what a preciously cute dog! What kind of dog is he?” And as soon as I respond “ He’s a pitbull” she pulled her hand back as quickly as possible and goes “I should report you! He’s illegal and dangerous and I’m lucky he didn’t bite me!” All I could do at that point was stare in amazement as she walked away and just wonder how any one could be that ignorant. Unfortunately no matter how sweet or gentle an American Pit bull terrier is, theirs absolutely no way to shake off the damage of a ruined reputation that has followed them for generations. At this point what can be done to prove this misunderstanding wrong, to prove that pit bulls aren’t just killing machines and they are very capable of being loving and perfect house pets?
So what is it about Pit bulls that make them stand out so much from other dogs that are just as capable of aggression? Maybe its their powerful locking jaws? No, it couldn’t be that seeming that The American Pit Bull Terrier and related breeds are physiologically no different from any other breed of dog. According to Dr. Brisbin "The few studies which have been conducted of the structure of the skulls, mandibles and teeth of pit bulls show that, in proportion to their size, their jaw structure and thus its inferred functional morphology, is no different than that of any breed of dog. There is absolutely no evidence for the existence of any kind of 'locking mechanism' unique to the structure of the jaw of the American Pit Bull Terrier.” (Brisben) Or what about the fact that a Pit bull might turn on you one day for no reason! There is a name for this type of situation its called the Springer Rage Syndrome most common in Springers and Spaniels; it is a neurological condition that manifests itself as a spontaneous attack, followed by confusion, and then a return to normal behavior(Anna-Marie). Which Pit bulls, by the way, are not prone to.
What about the legality and emotion of this situation. Going against the Miami Dade right to due process of law, the Dade county ordinance section 5-17.6 which is the legalization of owning a Pit bull in this county, and what will happen if you own a Pit bull and got caught by the county. 5-17.6 states “that any violation of this section may result in a civilian violation notice and destruction of the dog by order of court.”(Bardawil). Meaning if any one owns a Pit bull they will be taken to court get a nice fine and get their dog put to sleep or at least this is what’s supposed to happen, most of the time you don’t even get to court before your dog is injected with a lethal compound that shuts all their bodily functions and organs down. You should now be asking yourself, well how do they determine if a dog is indeed a pit bull. They basically base it off of the dogs dimensions; a box head, thick neck, broad chest. So they don’t use a 100% valid way to say “ that dog is indeed a pitbull!”. Although there is one a genetic testing that cost over two thousand for each dog that they decide not to use.
Banning Pit bulls terriers was a law passed due to the fact that these dogs were trained to become vicious fighters, mainly because of the fact that they are fearless and have a high tolerance to extreme pain. Taking countless dogs away from their pet owners without seeking a court order or even advising that they would need one as a law abiding citizen the state has been taking away the right of the citizens!! With this I question; are pit bulls the only “dangerous” dog? Can other dogs be pushed to the extremes to say maul a person or another dog? What makes these dog that much of a threat that they should be banned not only from dog fighters which is understandable but from dog lovers, that consider these dogs apart of the family as well as their life.
A group of researches decided to test over 30 different breeds of canines using the C-BARQ test, with this they were able to determine the different dogs responses to stimuli and situations. Through out the test that determine owner directed aggression pitbulls ranked twenty-eighth out of a total of thirty-three breeds that were tested Daschunds scoring number one. In Stranger-directed aggression they ranked twenty-one out of thirty-three breeds with Dachshunds scoring number one again , and dog directed aggression they ranked forth out of thirty- three with Akitas coming in number one. (Hsu) So with these scores why is it that Pitbulls are so targeted? With the proper amount of training and a responsible owner they shouldn’t be a threat.
Focusing on everyones main concern now ; the owners that use this breed to dog fight and use for violent purposes. Let me start by saying banning a breed of a dog is not really going to stop people from owning one illegally. So why disable the people who have a real love for the breed and cherish their companionship? It really doesn’t make any sense. As an owner I would never do anything to jeopardize my pets health I take him to the vet routinely and I would never use him against someone as a weapon so why are my rights being taken away! People who know nothing about the breed should really sit and take some time to realize a dog is what you train it to be (Fuller). If you find a dachshund and train it to be an aggressive violent dog that’s what it will do because its in its nature, but since they are small in comparison to breeds like Pit bulls they aren’t taken seriously because they arent capable of inflicting as much damage, but that’s not their choice, because if they could they wouldn’t think twice about mauling another dog or even a person. It can be estimated that for every Pit Bull who kills, there are 10.5 MILLION that DON'T! The average Number of people killed by a Pit Bull each year is 3. Did you know Each year, 350 people drown in their bathtubs. You are 151 times more likely to be killed by your bathtub than you are by a Pit Bull. (Hedges)
　
　
　
So now with that information lets jump into fun facts about Pit bulls. Stubby, the very first war dog. Battled in world war I and was considered a hero that earned many medals and is honored in the white house today Or how about The Ken-L-Ration dog hero of 1993 named Weela, who saved 30 people, 29 dogs, 13 horses and a cat during a flood in Southern California. Dixie who’s right now honored in A hall of fame in Georgia for saving children from a very poisonous snake. What kind of dog could accomplished these type of things? Their all Pit bulls. This plus countless other stories are hardly ever recognized because its so easy to see the negative and ignore the positive. (Dashevskaya)
Dog Trainer Jose Vela currently a specialized dog trainer that works with all types of dogs and has had many experiences with Pit Bulls sat and spoke to me regarding the issue of Pit bulls. I Asked “ Have you had any serious fights break out in any of your dog training classes, and was there a Pit bull involved” he replied “ Yes, a couple, and no; many were typical small dogs you see every day that fought”. I then asked have you ever encountered a pit bull fight during a lesson to my amazement he smiled, and said “ as a matter of fact I have, and the funny part about this fight was that a Chihuahua enticed the fight, and in my head I thought this dog is dead, and as the little Chihuahua ran to the Pit bull to attack him, the Pit bull although triple his size and weight, flapped his ears back and yelped as he tried scurrying away from this little crazed dog.” My next questions were does he agree with the people on whether these Pit bulls are just that dangerous and she kept illegal, his response was “ I think if Pit bulls are illegal, so should every large possibly aggressive dogs, in that case why have the possibility of owning a dog at all , any one could be a dog fighter. So my answer is no, I think that these dogs can be just as kind and as sweet as a golden retriever, not to mention their awesome to train”.
We live in a society that dictates what is acceptable and not acceptable, and that much change, if we truly are going to follow the constitution and find pursuit of happiness, then our deeds must be judge not the breed, we have to work together as a whole to show that their feelings are misjudged from Pit bulls that have given bad stigma because of the few bad owners that exploited them, especially due to the fact that dogs are known to be mans best friend, they are extremely loyal and eager to please (Hedges), they would die for their owners if that’s what the owner so wishes. Lets possibly return pits to being acceptable as much as they were when the little rascals played with one.

It can be estimated that for every Pit Bull who kills, there are 10.5 MILLION that DON'T! The average Number of people killed by a Pit Bull each year is 3. So now with that information lets jump into fun facts about Pit bulls. Stubby, the very first war dog. Battled in world war I and was considered a hero that earned many medals and is honored in the white house today Or how about The Ken-L-Ration dog hero of 1993 named Weela, who saved 30 people, 29 dogs, 13 horses and a cat during a flood in Southern California. Dixie who’s right now honored in A hall of fame in Georgia for saving children from a very poisonous snake. What kind of dog could accomplished these type of things? Their all Pit bulls. Dog Trainer Jose Vela currently a specialized dog trainer that works with all types of dogs and has had many experiences with Pit Bulls sat and spoke to me regarding the issue of Pit bulls. I Asked “ Have you had any serious fights break out in any of your dog training classes, and was there a Pit bull involved” he replied “ Yes, a couple, and no; many were typical small dogs you see every day that fought”. I then asked have you ever encountered a pit bull fight during a lesson to my amazement he smiled, and said “ as a matter of fact I have, and the funny part about this fight was that a Chihuahua enticed the fight, and in my head I thought this dog is dead, and as the little Chihuahua ran to the Pit bull to attack him, the Pit bull although triple his size and weight, flapped his ears back and yelped as he tried scurrying away from this little crazed dog.” My next questions were does he agree with the people on whether these Pit bulls are just that dangerous and she kept illegal, his response was “ I think if Pit bulls are illegal, so should every large possibly aggressive dogs, in that case why have the possibility of owning a dog at all , any one could be a dog fighter. So my answer is no, I think that these dogs can be just as kind and as sweet as a golden retriever, not to mention their awesome to train”.
We live in a society that dictates what is acceptable and not acceptable, and that much change, if we truly are going to follow the constitution and find pursuit of happiness, then our deeds must be judge not the breed, we have to work together as a whole to show that their feelings are misjudged from Pit bulls that have given bad stigma because of the few bad owners that exploited them, especially due to the fact that dogs are known to be mans best friend, they are extremely loyal and eager to please (Hedges), they would die for their owners if that’s what the owner so wishes. Lets possibly return pits to being acceptable as much as they were when the little rascals played with one.

Ever notice how people can be so naiive and ignorant to many situations if put one way but if told in another they quickly realize the velocity of the problem? When the history of the holocaust is mention people fringe at the thought of such cruelty. Yet when people are told that certain dogs must be murdered since they too will not be accepted , then its a whole different circumstance. granted what hitler did was worse, because it was to people and very inhumane but non the less look at it like, he was a murderer. American Pitbull Terriers, and staffordshires are one of the most feared breed of dogs known in many places. When the word pitbull is mention people automatically assume they are energetic steriod filled aggressive dogs that will tear up anything in its path. but why is this a sterotype for just pitbulls, when you hear rottwielers or german shepards wouldnt the same fealing of fear infill you? A poll survey was taken in a very populated area, the poll showing that an astounding 92% believed that pitbulls in general are dangerous. Research and an open mind can prove this to be otherwise a misunderstood problem.

WHERE I WALK AFTER CLASS

once i leave class at 1250 my usual routine is to call my boyfriend and walk as quickly as i can to the health science building where i sit at a table and wait for my friend to come over till we go to our 130 class... for the first time i didnt get on the phone right away, instead i looked around to see what was going on. i saw that the miami heat dancers were in the pit, i saw that there was construction being done between the ballrooms and the health science building!! i was curious to find out what was being done so i inquired a little about it and found out that they are building another parking lot of 80 spaces, and that most will be for staff... i was surprised that i never noticed that.

When i was first assigned the photo essay, i was skeptical on how it was going to come out i didnt really understand the rhetorical aspect of it , so i had no idea how to put it together without understanding. but as the process continued and we revised it with the teachings from class and we had the guest speaker everything started coming together and i started understanding how to use ethos pathos and logos and identify it. So i kept that in mind when i was piecing my photo essay together, then the second paper came much easier since i knew exactly what to capture i just had to put it in words, i simply just described all the pictures and then gave the rhetoric of it within the same paragraph and when i reread it i felt like i really knew how to incorporate everything i learned in class in that essay.. I learned writing has much more meaning than just completing an assignment, theres alot behind the words that alot of people over look and take for granted because it really does give alot more to everyhting that is written. it more than just the grammer and the organization its the overall meaning and basic understanding of the topic. In the future i would like to work on the different types of retorics one by one instead of grouping them together, because some are easier to udnerstand than the others.. like i can easily identify pathos of ethos may be a little harder to see as quickly.

there are many comparisons between composing a photo essay and writing a rhetorical analysis such as taking different aspects inton consideration when you are putting it together, such as whos the audience, what are you tryign to say, how are you going to say it, where is your credibility, how are you going to appeal to ethos, logos, and pathos. The only difference is its easier to capture things with pictures, more than words for some people, i can explain something within one picture but in an essay it could take many pages to get it out.

TONIGHT HEAT WENT AGAINST CAVS AT HOME, what started off to be a super promising game.. heat was up by 8-11 for a good amount of the time, wit wade and lebron going one on one with threes and back to back twos , wade scoring 30 in just the first half... then i guess during half time they just lost it took too long of a break ate a little extra something (loll jk). wade hardly scored. haslem finally stepped it up.. but long story short.. with 4.1 seconds left on the clock lebron pulled a foul .. putting them at 92.. and us 91.. and wade decides to put up a 2...and misses. horribly.. giving the cavs yet ANOTHER win. GRRR. so mad. lol. ok ...

The rhetorical considerations i took into account when taking the pictures was mainly pathos, what dog owners take pride in or can relate to when seeing my pictures, giving it a sense of ethos as well because its giving myself a little credibility in the truth of it all... they did translate into the pictures but using a dog as your "star" is alot harder than using a person. he does what he wants when he wants he doesnt pose he doesnt stay in one spot long enough to get a decent picture.i went thru hundreds of pictures then i kind of thought about .. hmm every one knows dogs can be a little crazy so i decided to throw in a blurred picture of him running. it kind of catches the reality in the pictures of a not so perfectly trained dogg. the guest photographer, really gave me ideas on photo angles.. i was thinking about doing just regular pictures but then i decided to listen to her about getting close and giving it a little more meaning, catching movement, etc. i KIND of followed my plan. i decided to add a little to it as i went. but the music was a last resort becuase i thought just the pictures would be too boring but now that ive seen some others i dnt think the music is too appropriate that might be a huge revision ..

What rhetorical considerations are important to make when writing online?Should you be concerned with how you sound?How can you control your on line persona(liketheoneyouprojectbycreatingablog)?

There are alot of things to be taken into account when writing online, such as audience, topic of writing, emotion in the writing (pathos) because the reader may not know you (the writer) and may infer a different meaning from your words. I dont have to be concerned about how i sound, because every one is going to have their own opinion reguardless so theres really no point in trying to impress, and not be myself. I can control my online persona by deciding exactly how much information about myself i want to expose, even the way the decorations to the page are done; the music, color arrangement, picture choices-Everything on here that i alter, creates my "persona" therefore by tweaking everything just right, I can either be myself, or anyone i aim to be.
